Comcast Media Center Expands Its VOD Distribution  Footprint With Addition of Four New Affiliates

Lebanon, Midcontinent, Sunflower and Wave Broadband Join  Growing List of MSOs Using CMC’s Total Content Solution For VOD

Denver, Colo, September 25, 2006 –Lebanon Telecommunications, Midcontinent  Communications, Sunflower Broadband and Wave Broadband have signed up to use the  Comcast Media Center’s (CMC) national video on demand (VOD) content management and  distribution service, the company announced today. These new affiliates join eight additional  MSOs in selecting the CMC to manage customized packages of VOD programming from a wide  variety of TV networks and other sources.

“The CMC’s VOD platform allows operators to enhance their VOD libraries with content  that is personally relevant to each of their customers,” stated Gary Traver, Chief Operating  Officer for the CMC. “We are looking forward to working with each of our new affiliates on  expanding their VOD services through our platform, which features a number of cutting–edge  enhancements that have increased its capacity and remote management capabilities.”

Comcast Media Center’s VOD solution is the industry’s only platform offering VOD  content creation, management and distribution from one national facility. Its content  management services include a secure Internet portal that allows affiliates to track content  delivery to all of their headends. The customized content management tool allows affiliates to  monitor the status of VOD content, including when programming has propagated from the CMC  catcher successfully to the affiliate’s VOD system.

The Denver-based business unit of Comcast Cable offers a comprehensive set of  production and editing services from the same facility, providing a turnkey solution for creating,  managing and distributing VOD content “all under one roof.” Original VOD programming produced  at the CMC includes college and professional sports highlights shows; time-sensitive public  affairs programming; how-to programming and short-form informational programs.

The CMC, which currently encodes and delivers an average of 3,600 episodes (content  assets) and 1,200 hours of VOD content per month, offers content providers and operators a  range of options for creating, managing and distributing their VOD assets, from standard  scheduling to quick-turnaround delivery. The CMC creates and validates meta-data in-house,  including scrubbing and translation services, allowing it to meet multiple headend, server and IPG  requirements.
