RFD-TV to launch on HITS 8 August 14

Agreement makes RFD-TV available on platform serving 13 million digital cable subscribers

NCTC Annual Membership Meeting, Chicago, July 31, 2006 – RFD-TV the only  full time TV network servicing rural America, will launch on HITS 8 on August 14, joining  a lineup of over 150 digital video and audio services available to affiliates of the  Headend in the Sky (HITS) service operated by Comcast Media Center (CMC). RFD-TV  and the CMC announced the transport agreement in conjunction with the Annual  Meeting for NCTC, which serves a large number of HITS’ over 400 cable MSO affiliates.

Now, in its 6th year of broadcasting, RFD-TV proudly serves the needs and  interests of rural America, horse lovers, farmers & ranchers with traditional, familyoriented  television programming. The network is distributed by Mediacom and NCTC  cable systems in all 50 states and serves over 28 million cable and satellite homes in the  U.S.

“The addition of RFD to the CMC’s HITS platform expands our growing content  lineup and allows RFD to complement its direct feed with carriage on a digital platform  that reaches over 3,000 regional and standalone headends across the U.S.,” said Gary  Traver, COO of Comcast Media Center.

“Request after request from cable operators asking that RFD-TV be offered  through HITS is the reason for this move,” said Ed Frazier, COO of RFD-TV. “Our availability on the HITS platform can substantially increase the distribution of this popular  and original channel, which is experiencing unprecedented growth in both urban and  rural markets from consumers who are searching for original programming suitable for  viewing by the entire family.”

The popular CMC HITS 8 multiplex is carried on the Galaxy 4R satellite (K12 LBand  1190V). The HITS digital overlay platform, combined with the CMC’s Total Digital  Solution lineup of widely available basic and expanded basic cable channels gives cable  operators a cost-effective and efficient way to launch digital video tiers and all-digital  services.
