BRESNAN COMMUNICATIONS LAUNCHES THE TOTAL DIGITAL SOLUTION FROM COMCAST MEDIA CENTER AND SES AMERICOM
TOTAL DIGITAL SOLUTION LINEUP OF BASIC AND EXPANDED BASIC CHANNELS COMBINES WITH CMC’S HITS SERVICE TO SUPPORT ALL DIGITAL DEPLOYMENTS
NCTA National Show, Atlanta, GA, – April 10, 2006 – Bresnan Communications has deployed the new Total Digital Solution offering from the Comcast Media Center (CMC) and SES AMERICOM. Total Digital Solution allows cable operators to launch digital simulcasts or all digital service without costly investments in headend equipment, upgrades or maintenance by offering dozens of basic and expanded basic channels via SES AMERICOM’s 50-state AMC-4 satellite. By combining this new package of programming services with the CMC’s HITS (Headend In The Sky) digital overlay platform, cable operators can choose from more than 200 quality video and audio programming services for a robust digital lineup. Bresnan has launched the service in its Newcastle, WY and Delta, UT markets.
“Total Digital Solution represents a highly cost effective and expedient approach toward launching digital simulcasts and all-digital service, and we welcome Bresnan to the CMC/SES AMERICOM platform,” said Gary Traver, COO of Comcast Media Center. “The CMC’s content management capabilities permit us to digitally encode channels nearly six times more efficiently than headend-based solutions and provide an extensive array of high quality video services that allow operators to remain competitive in their communities.”
“Our innovative solution breaks up the bandwidth bottleneck and allows MSOs to expand their businesses and enhance the viewing experiences of their customers with confidence in the availability of digital distribution,” said Bryan McGuirk, president of media solutions for SES AMERICOM.
The lineup of basic and expanded basic services offered by the Total Digital Solution will be available to all cable operators and may be taken on its own or in combination with the HITS services. Bresnan, a HITS affiliate, will be combining channels from the Total Digital Solution service with its lineup of HITS services and local programming to create an all digital service package.
