Comcast Media Center Launches Enhanced  Spanish Language Tier on HITS Platform 

Acquires Canales ñ Assets from International Channel Networks,  Adds TVE Internacional, HTV Musica and Utilísima,  Re-names & Re-prices Multi-Channel Spanish Tier 

Denver, Colo., Sept. 2, 2003 — Comcast Media Center (CMC) has retooled,  renamed and re-priced its lineup of 10 digital TV networks and 8 audio channels  targeting the growing Hispanic TV audience in the US, the company announced today.  The re-launch of its Spanish language package, renamed HITS en Español, involved  acquiring the assets of International Channel Networks’ (ICN) Canales ñ digital  programming Spanish Package, adding the TVE Internacional (“TVE”), HTV Musica  and Utilísima networks, and lowering the package price to cable operators licensing this  programming via CMC. 

“Cable system operators require programming targeted to their Hispanic  customers in order to be competitive and respond to the needs and interests of the largest  minority group in the US,” said Gary Traver, Senior Vice President COO for the CMC.  “By increasing the appeal of our HITS en Español tier while lowering its cost, we’re  enabling our affiliates to improve their operating results while meeting the needs of their  customers” 

Launched in 1989, TVE (Television Española Internacional) features the most  popular Spanish language films in Latin and South America, international news, children’s programming, comedies, telenovelas, variety shows, cultural programs,  documentaries and interview programs. 

Utilísima, the only Spanish language network targeted to women , has 100%  original and unique programming focusing on topics such as child care, health, cooking,  arts and crafts, beauty, fashion and home decoration.  HTV Musica, an affiliate of Cisneros Television Group, presents daily back-toback  blocks of the best Latin music videos, original programming and a popular  interactive website (www.htv.com). HTV Musica offers a diverse music mix covering  the widest-possible spectrum of Latin American music, including salsa, merengue,  cumbia, pop and rock, from crossover and Latin stars such as Shakira, Mana, Paulina  Rubio, Juanes, Enrique Iglesias, Ricky Martin, Enrique Churches, Gloria Estefan, Thalia,  Carlos Ponce, Chayanne, Marc Anthony, Elvis Crespo and India. 

Additional networks available via HITS en Español are Discovery En Español,  Fox Sports World Español, CNN en Español, CineLatino, Toon Disney en Español,  MTVS and VH Uno. The tier’s audio channels, provided by DMX Music, include Rock  en Español, Musica de las Americas, Salsa, Tejano, Latin Jazz, Latin Contemporary,  Regional Mexican, and its Fiesta Tropical formats.
