Comcast Media Center’s “Kenny Chesney in Concert: No Shoes, No Shirt, No Problems” Production Premieres on iN DEMAND April 19
Denver, April 18 – This weekend’s premiere of the “Kenny Chesney in Concert” pay per view event premiering on iN DEMAND will also represent a record performance by the Comcast Media Center (CMC). The concert’s debut on Saturday night, April 19 will mark the first time that a major television event engaged the CMC’s full complement of media development, management and distribution services.
CMC, a unit of Comcast Cable, tapped the resources of its 53-foot all-digital mobile production truck for a 12 - camera shoot of Kenny Chesney’s “No Shoes, No Shirt, No Problems” concert at the Denver Pepsi Center last fall. Postproduction occurred at the CMC’s Denver facility, which also originates iN DEMAND, and satellite transmission will be provided by the CMC’s Titan Earth Station facility in nearby Sedalia, Colorado.
“We viewed the Kenny Chesney concert as a terrific opportunity for showing the advantages that integrated outsourcing provides content creators, stated Gary Traver, Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer for the Comcast Media Center. “We routinely provide full service solutions for our enterprise market clients’ e-tailing and training programs. But working with Kenny Chesney and the organizers for one of the entertainment industry’s top tours and iN DEMAND illustrated than we can handle a top tier television event, from concept to final delivery, efficiently and cost effectively.”
By using its disk based, multi-track recording capabilities, the CMC’s production crew recorded each microphone and instrument used in the concert on a separate track, in order to create the final mix in both stereo and 5.1 Dolby digital. The 305,000 square foot Comcast Media Center provided all post production services, including video postproduction, studio vocal fixes, audio mixing and sweetening, closed captioning and title creation. Although it wasn’t required in this instance, the CMC’s remote rig routinely produces and transmits live television programming and any events originating from the Pepsi Center can use a dedicated fiber link connected to the CMC’s facilities in Littleton. The link, which is maintained by Comcast Cable routinely transports sports programming from the Pepsi Center to the CMC, for live editing and transmission of national or out-of-market games.
Comcast Media Center’s Denver facility houses production studios, audio and post production suites, including HD production and editing gear, and encoding, storage, management and transmission services for rich media streaming as well as digital television programming. The CMC originates networks reaching cable systems across the country, including all of iN DEMAND’s channels, and retransmits more than 140 television networks to its HITS (Headend In The Sky) affiliates
“Kenny Chesney in Concert” begins at 8:00 p.m. EDT on Saturday, April 19 on iN DEMAND pay-per-view. Kenny Chesney was named one of People Magazine's “10 Sexiest Men” and Billboard ranked "No Shoes, No Shirt, No Problems" the year's highest grossing country tour, having played to over 1.8 million fans and grossing over $23 million. iN DEMAND, the world’s leading PPV and VOD provider, delivers 60 digital television channels featuring premieres of the best movies, championship boxing, megaevent wrestling, professional and college sports, plus original entertainment.
